Announcement

So I have to admit I told a little white lie a few posts ago when I said nothing was new. In fact, there was quite the happening with Jamie and I, but we couldn't just rush to the computer to broadcast on the blog. Actually, I would guess that most of the people who read this blog already know, but I'll post just to be official anyway.... Jamie's pregnant!!

I don't have much time before I need to get to campus for a workout so I'll give you a brief synopsis. Tuesday, March 10th began with me downstairs drinking coffee and eating cereal bright and early in the kitchen. Around 7am I heard Jamie rustling around upstairs like she normally does for work. A few minutes later I heard a very hoarse and rather pathetic attempt to call my name from upstairs. I thought she was sick so I went to the bottom of the stairs and asked what was up. Jamie asked if I "could come up here?" So, I did. Then she walked towards the bathroom and said "No, in here." I peeked around the corner and low and behold was a wonderful surprise, a positive pregnancy test. Jamie told me that she didn't color that one in with a marker either. Last summer, when I was in Europe racing, she sent me a picture text of a pregnancy test with two blue lines. Here I was in a room in Belgium playing poker with the likes of Mark Carroll and Alan Webb and my wife sends me this kind of text. My head was racing, so I purposely went 'all-in' blind on the next hand and lost. Then I went outside and called Jamie for .99/minute just to see what that meant. She said, "Do you think I would send you a picture of a negative test?" I thought, "Good point." Then she started laughing hysterically and said she colored in the second line with a blue magic marker. What an awful prank to play on someone thousands of miles away. Anway, 8 months later this one is for real and we couldn't be more excited....probably a little scared, but excited nevertheless.

On Sunday, Jamie had an ultrasound and everything seems to be just fine and there is definitely a heartbeat there, which for me seals the deal. Even after 3 positive at-home pregnancy tests that only became bolder in color, I wasn't completely sold nor completely ready to embrace the notion. However, now is a different story.

As for me, I am busy 'nesting' as Jamie likes to call it. Outdoor track is about to open up for me in less than two weeks and will hopefully take me all the way up until September. I really want to be able to focus on running and racing as much as possible once that happens so I am trying to get a few projects around the house complete.....mostly just painting, as was obviously noted below. Got to run, no pun intended!
